How Expose calculates your score

Your Overall Agentic Search Score in Expose > Scoring is calculated by analysing the structured data across your store and comparing it against what an AI-optimised store should have.

In simple terms, Expose checks whether your store includes the business, product, content, navigation, and action data that helps AI-driven shopping systems understand your storefront clearly. The more complete and accurate that data is, the higher your score.

INFO

Your score is shown at the top of the Scoring page as the Overall Agentic Search Score, with a percentage breakdown underneath in the Categories section.

What Expose checks

Expose reviews several schema areas that affect how well your store can be understood by AI systems:

  • Brand Identity — organisation name, logo, contact details, and return policy

  • Content & FAQs — FAQ schema and article or blog content

  • Content & Media — images and media metadata

  • Site Structure & Navigation — website schema, breadcrumbs, and item lists

  • Actions & Capabilities — buy actions and search actions

  • Products — product and product group schema

Each area contributes to your overall score. Missing, incomplete, or unclear data in any of these areas can lower the percentage you see in Scoring.

NOTE

On the current Scoring screen, you will see category cards such as Brand Identity, Content & Media, Site Structure & Navigation, Products, and Actions & Capabilities. Expose uses these visible scoring sections to show where your biggest gaps are.

How the category scores affect the total

Each category is scored separately, then contributes to your Overall Agentic Search Score. A strong overall score depends on having complete data across your store, not just in one area.

For example:

  • If Site Structure & Navigation is complete, that category may show 100%.

  • If Brand Identity is missing business contact details, that category may show a lower score and reduce your total.

  • If product or content-related schema is incomplete, those gaps also pull the overall score down.

This is why a store can look strong in one category but still have an overall score below 100%.

How to see what is lowering your score

1. Open Scoring - In Expose, open Scoring. At the top of the page, you will see your Overall Agentic Search Score. Scroll down to the Categories section to review each category's percentage.

2. Check category actions - Each category card shows the next action based on its score:

  • View Scoring appears when the category is already complete.

  • Improve Score appears when Expose has found missing or incomplete data.

3. Review the detailed breakdown - Click View Scoring or Improve Score to open the category detail page. Expose will show the schema types included in that category.

For example, under Site Structure & Navigation, you may see:

  • Website

  • Breadcrumb List

  • Item List (Collection)

  • Item List (Search)

Use View schema if you want to inspect what Expose is generating for that part of your store.

4. Fix missing values - If a category is below 100%, Expose highlights the schema type causing the gap. For example, under Brand Identity, you may see Organisation with a Fix missing values button.

When you open it, Expose shows a table with Field, Value, Status, and Update type so you can see exactly what is missing.

5. Update the missing information - From the missing values list, you can:

  • Click Edit value to add information directly in Expose

  • Click Edit in Shopify when the value is managed in your Shopify store settings

Once those gaps are filled, the affected category score can improve, which can also increase your overall score.

Why scores go down

Your score usually drops when Expose cannot find important structured data, or when the data it finds is incomplete. Common examples include:

  • Missing telephone number or social profiles in Brand Identity

  • Incomplete product information in Products

  • Missing breadcrumbs or item lists in Site Structure & Navigation

  • Weak or incomplete content signals in your store content

  • Missing action markup that helps AI understand shopping or search actions

TIP

If you want the fastest improvement, start with the category cards showing the lowest percentage and use Improve Score to fix the missing items first.

Quick answer

Q. Is the score based on just one page?

A. No. Expose analyses structured data across your store, then combines those findings into category scores and an Overall Agentic Search Score.

Q. Do all categories affect the total score?

A. Yes. Each category contributes to the overall result, so missing data in any category can lower your score.

Q. How do I know exactly what is missing?

A. Open Scoring, then click Improve Score on any category below 100%. Expose will show the schema type, missing fields, and whether you should use Edit value or Edit in Shopify.

Q. Does a 100% score mean everything is live on my store?

A. Your score reflects how complete your store data is in Expose. To publish that schema on your storefront, you also need the Expose app embed enabled in your Shopify theme.
